TMBA represents interests of responsible power craft owners on non-tidal Thames.
TMBA is a member of the Thames Navigation User Forum which is an Environment Agency sponsored body of those representing non tidal Thames navigational user groups.
There are barely 8000 powered craft now registered on the EA Thames waterway, down from over 15000 20 years ago. Revenue income from boat registrations is falling at same time as government austerity programme has led to massive reduction in public funding for recreational river – 2017 budget is down to half that for 2010.
TMBA campaigns for sustainable funding for the recreational waterway. Major change in legislation and treasury rules neeeded to promote alternative income streams.
